Powyzynski Named VP of Architecture at AGUIRRE

Also, Smith Seckman Reid and HOK add new staff in Houston offices.

AGUIRRECorp. recently announced the promotion of Dave Powyzynski to vice president, architecture. He will be responsible for managing client relations and ensuring project delivery as it pertains to design. Powyzynski holds a master’s of architecture from UCLA as well as a bachelor’s of architecture from SCI-ARC and a bachelor’s of science in architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is NCARB certified and is licensed in 23 states. The firm also announced that Andrew Hinman was hired as director of architectural design. Hinman will be responsible for business development and project management. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Millsaps College and a bachelor’s of architecture from Mississippi State University.


Smith Seckman Reid Inc. has hired five new employees in the firm’s Houston office.   Hariz Cumurovic is an electrical engineer responsible for the design of lighting systems, emergency power systems and power distribution for health-care facilities.
Cumurovic received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Sarajevo in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana. Frank Colon is a plumbing designer responsible for plumbing/fire protection design functions from development through construction on health-care facilities. He has 24 years of experience in the engineering industry. David Roberts is a mechanical designer responsible for CAD layout, design, file maintenance and installation and for updating of architectural backgrounds. Roberts will also be responsible for mechanical equipment schedules, details and HVAC load calculations. Darren Graves is a communications consultant responsible for structured cabling systems, low-voltage communications and systems and data network design for health care and higher education facilities. Graves has 12 years of experience with low-voltage communication systems and is certified with Radionics Intrusion Systems. He holds a certification in digital video recorders with Loronix (Verint) Video Systems. Marco Menéndez is a mechanical engineer and responsible for the design of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for health-care facilities. Menéndez earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas-El Paso. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and a registered professional engineer in Texas.


Equipment Collaborative Inc. announced the appointment of Dennis Mulcahy as vice president - director of operations, responsible for recruitment, technology, strategic planning, operations management and client relations.


HOK recently added several new employees to its Houston practice. Mike Woods has more 25 years of experience and will have the title of project manager, leading the effort in the management of Houston Pavilions, a mixed-use project in downtown Houston. Ben Crawford was hired as a senior designer. He has returned to Houston from Boston, where he was with Pickard Chilton Architects. He is a graduate of Rice University and brings more than 15 years of design experience to HOK. Chris Heikkla joined HOK as a senior project architect. He holds a bachelor’s of environmental design from Texas A&M University and a master’s of architecture from the University of Houston. He will be focusing on corporate and health-care projects.


Bailey Architects announced that Sandra Bauder has received her Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation. Bauder holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture, is a volunteer with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Houston chapter and specializes in green building and sustainability design


Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) announced the appointment of Claudia Williamson as director of government relations. Williamson will be responsible for leading the company’s government relations program and will serve as chief advisor to LAN’s president on political matters and potential new markets. LAN also announced the selection of Timothy J. Schmidt, LAN’s transit operations manager, to the Leadership American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Council. Schmidt is one of 25 transit professionals selected to participate in various forums to address topics of the transit industry. LANWalton, a division of LAN, announced the appointment of Lamar Urbanovsky as its director of educational program management. Urbanovsky will provide leadership for LANWalton’s program management services in Central Texas, serving clients including public and private school districts, community colleges and universities. Urbanovsky recently retired from the Texas State University System where he served for 37 years, and held the offices of chancellor, executive director and director of planning and construction. He now serves chancellor emeritus.


LJA recently announced the promotion of Keith W. Monroe, RPLS, to manager of LJA’s surveying division. In his new position, Monroe will manage the surveying division and will manage and provide oversight for major projects.


Pape-Dawson Engineers Inc. announced the promotion of Dr. Troy M. Dorman, P.E., to vice president, water resources. Dorman received his bachelor’s degree in hydrology from Tarleton State University in 1993, a master’s of science in civil engineering and a doctorate in water resources from Texas Tech University in 1996 and 2003 respectively.


PGAL announced that Jeanette DiCorcia, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as an architect. She is a member of the AIA and is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED accredited professional.


SpawGlass announced that Cathy Brandewie has joined the team as director of business relations for the Austin regional office.


WALTER P MOORE announced that Ken Byle, P.E., Cory Dayton, P.E., Jennifer Peek, P.E., PTOE, Srinivas Sangineni, P.E., and Aaron White, P.E., have been named principals with the firm.
