Legendary golfer Arnold Palmer
was presented the prestigious Dave Marr Memorial Award by
Lynn Laverty Elsenhans, president
of Houston-based Shell Oil Co., during the seventh annual
awards dinner held recently in conjunction with the Shell
Houston Open. The award was presented at a private ceremony
honoring Palmer for both his contribution to the game of golf
and his commitment to philanthropy. The event was held shortly
after the Women's Business Enterprise Council named Shell
to the fifth annual listing of America's Top Corporations
for Women's Business Enterprise.
Lisa Charrin and Jarntip
Pitayagulsarn have joined Equipment Collaborative,
a new subsidiary of Houston-based FKP Architects Inc. Formerly
vice president of equipment planning for FKP, Charrin is now
president of Equipment Collaborative, whose services include
inventory, equipment planning and procurement, receiving/installation/move-in
coordination and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems
planning and implementation. Pitayagulsarn has joined Equipment
Collaborative as equipment coordinator. In her new position,
she will work with equipment planning, procurement and installation
services for the company's projects at the University of Texas
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as well as other clients. Her
previous experience includes equipment coordinator for a Nashville,
Tenn., firm and research assistant at Vanderbilt University
Medical Center, where she earned a bachelors of engineering
degree with an emphasis in biomedical engineering. Equipment
Collaborative is a subsidiary of FKP Architects Inc., a Houston-based,
full-service architecture and consulting firm.
Philip Barnard and Joanne
K. Janssen were recently promoted by Frank
Adams, president of Houston's Interface Consulting
International Inc. Barnard has been promoted to senior vice
president. Janssen has been promoted to manager-commercial
group.
When Barnard joined Interface Consulting in 1996, he had
more than 20 years in the construction management industry.
As a former contractor and the assistant director of public
works for the city of Houston, Barnard has had experience
in multimillion-dollar construction projects, heavy civil
and bridge construction, project management for facilities
and other public-works projects.
With Interface Consulting, he conducts damage assessments
and dispute resolution for contractors, owners and insurers
in addition to his comprehensive litigation support to attorneys
as an engineering and construction expert. He holds a bachelor's
of science in civil engineering from Southern Methodist University
and is a registered professional engineer in the state of
Texas.
Janssen has been with the Interface Consulting for seven years.
She manages daily corporate operations, planning, and administration
for the firm, focusing on project management, marketing and
communications. She also contributes to the company through
project analysis and research and the events coordination.
Janssen holds a BS in political science from Texas A&M
University.
Craig Browning has been named business development manager
of Browning Construction Company. Prior to joining Browning,
he was a project manager with J.C. Evans Construction and
a business analyst with Motorola Inc., in Austin.
Browning is a cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University
where he earned a B.E. in civil engineering. He also received
an M.B.A. from the University of Texas. Last year Rotary International
selected Browning to join the Rotary Group Study Exchange
for Professionals in Brazil.

Lawrence G. Griffis, president of Walter P. Moore's Structures
Division, was recently presented with the Structural Engineers
Association of Texas prestigious Wilbur C. Schoeller Award.
Named in honor of a founding member of SEAoT, the award is
given to individuals in recognition of specific achievement
or attainment of noteworthy prominence in the structural engineering
profession.
Matt Daniel has joined Greyhawk
North America's Houston office as regional director of corporate
development. In his new role he will continue to identify
potential opportunities for the firm as it expands into the
Southwest construction market. "With Matt on board, Greyhawk
is well-positioned to build market share and explore unchartered
territory," said Gary Berman, the firm's president and
CEO.
Daniel has generated $100 million in fees at such firms as
Vaughn Construction, Jacobs Facilities and Gilbane Building
Co. His strong marketing/sales efforts have resulted in the
reward of such projects as the Harris County Civil Courthouse,
St. Joseph's Hospital and the University of Texas Health Science
Center, with construction values exceeding $2 billion. His
25-year career in the construction industry began as a project
engineer/estimator on ConocoPhillip's $100 million World Headquarters.
Daniel received a bachelor's degree in building construction
from Texas A&M University. He is a past board member of
the Houston chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.
