Smart Work, Tenure Prove Key to Getting Ahead

New leadership roles filled from within; also, AGC announces Paul Workman as new president of TBB.

Constructors & Associates has named Daniel Busch its president. Based in Dallas, Busch has technical, administrative, marketing and financial responsibility for all Constructors operations throughout Texas and the Southwest. Busch holds a bachelor's of science from the United States Naval Academy and a master's in business management from Central Michigan University.


Cobb, Fendley & Associates Inc. announced that five shareholders are assuming a greater role in the company's organization structure. Shareholders Dale Conger, Stephanie Funk, Mark Sappington, Monica Silver were named vice presidents. Allen Watson has been named president of the firm.


Paul D. Workman was named the 34th president of the Texas Building Branch of the Associated General Contractors of America. The Texas Building Branch serves the eleven AGC building chapters in the state providing legislative support. TBB represents more than 300 general contractors and more than 3,000 specialty contractors. Workman is the secretary of The Workman Cos., general partner of Workman Commercial Construction Services Ltd.


Walker Parking Consultants announced James Warner, PE, as director of operations for the company's Houston office. As director of operations, Warner is responsible for the management and coordination of parking structure design projects for Walker's Houston office. Warner holds a bachelor's of science in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State University.


HOLT CAT recently named John Montoya, product sales representative for the Victoria area. Montoya will be responsible for promoting parts and service to customers in the Victoria area. Matt Krocka was recently named sales representative for the San Antonio area. He will be responsible for promoting a diverse line of Caterpillar and allied rental products. Krocka has a bachelor's of science degree from Texas A&M University.



Jordan Construction’s San Antonio office has added three new project managers and one new superintendent. Jimmy Cordes has been involved in the construction industry since 1991. Cordes was previously with Jordan's Florida office. Victor Enrique was promoted to project manager for Jordan's Tri-County area as well as projects in Laredo. Gary Abbott comes to Jordan from Naples, Fla., where he was the project manager for a mixed-use development. Fred Moreno is responsible for construction means and methods, supervising Jordan Construction labor, managing subcontractor field operations, maintaining project schedules and managing Jordan's quality control program.


 


Ziegler Cooper Architects Living Place Studio, has recently promoted Jim Zemski, AIA, to principal. Zemski brings significant project and financial management skills, as well as technical expertise, programming and design experience. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Architecture, a licensed architect and a member of the AIA.


SpawGlass announced that Joel Stone has been promoted to vice president of corporate business development. He will work throughout SpawGlass' four regions. Pat Williams was named vice president/Austin regional manager. Williams became a SpawGlass team member 21 years ago and officially launched SpawGlass' South Texas operations in 1999. Project manager Rene Capistran has been promoted to South Texas regional manager.


Skanska USA Building Inc. announced the promotion of four employees in its Texas offices of Harlingen, Houston and San Antonio. In Harlingen, Marty Massey was promoted to vice president of operations. Massey will be responsible for overseeing operations for the Harlingen and the Central Texas markets. Massey has been with Skanska for more than 27 years. Josue Reyes was promoted to senior project manager, for Skanska's operations in Harlingen. He brings with him more than nine years of construction management experience. Ronnie Howe, Jr., was promoted to vice president of operations for the company's Houston office. Howe will be responsible for oversight of the Houston office. Howe brings 27 years of experience in the construction industry. Scott Cannon was promoted to vice president of operations for the company's San Antonio office. His responsibilities include oversight of several health care and higher education construction projects in Central Texas. Cannon has been with Skanska for more than ten years.


Haynes Whaley Associates recently announced personnel promotions in its Houston and Austin offices. Several employees were named senior associate including Jennifer L. Buchanan, P.E., Fred Dally, P.E., Sonja R. Jordan and Amy M. Moen, CPSM. Employees promoted to associate include Gregory J. Casey, P.E., and Jimmie Snyder, Jr.


Kirksey announced that Brian P. Richard, AIA, NCARB will be returning to the firm as the science and technology team leader. In this role, he will oversee projects that have an applied sciences program and/or require a high degree of technology integration.


PGAL announced the promotion of Derron Vincik, PE, LEED to principal. Seven years of experience in the Houston office have prepared him for the challenge. In his new role, Derron will continue to direct civil engineering projects for PGAL. Derron is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. PGAL also announced the addition of Michael Lloyd, AIA to the Houston office. Re-joining the firm, Lloyd will serve as principal. He brings more than 18 years of experience in the design and construction industry with prominent projects. He will continue to lend his expertise to the firm on technology and civic projects nationwide.


RS&H has hired Heather L. Chaffin as a senior planner in its Transportation and Public Infrastructure Programs. Chaffin has more than 14 years of planning experience, specializing in transportation, environmental and land-use issues. She received her master's in science in community and regional planning and bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. RS&H named Adolfo Saenz as a civil engineer in its Transportation and Public Infrastructure Programs. He will support a wide variety of highway engineering and design projects for clients including the TxDOT. Saenz received a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from Florida International University in Miami and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.


TDIndustries has promoted Ben Simmons to executive vice president of its multifamily group. Simmons joined TDIndustries in 1991 as a project manager, later becoming a managing director of the firm. In his new role, Simmons is responsible for overseeing major construction projects.


Callison announced the promotion of Mike Martinez to the role of director. He will be responsible for driving change within the organization and continuing to raise the bar in client service and design excellence. Martinez has ten years experience in the architecture industry with emphasis on finance.


FKP Architects Inc. has hired Thomas Woods, AIA, as a project manager. Woods has more than 10 years of experience managing architectural projects, project teams and overseeing construction administration. Woods holds a bachelor's of architecture degree from the University of Houston.


SpawMaxwell has added Phil Metcalf as operations manager/preconstruction services. Metcalf has more than 35 years of experience. Also, Brad Carbo has joined SpawMaxwell as project manager. Carbo holds a bachelor's of science from Louisiana State University. Bill Homrighausen has also joined SpawMaxwell as project manager. Homrighausen has more than 27 years of expertise in architectural and construction design and production. Homrighausen holds a bachelor's of architecture from Ball State University in Indiana.


Perspectiva announced that after 17 years with its El Paso office, Martin Needle has been selected to lead the architecture practice for Perspectiva and is relocating to Houston.
