RTKL Associates Inc. has promoted Brad Barker, AIA, to executive vice president. Barker leads the firm’s Healthcare and Health Science Practice Group and has been responsible for making it a leading innovator in the industry. Barker oversees a staff of more than 250 planning and design professionals. With a career that spans more than 27 years, Barker has been involved in the planning and design of most every type of health-care facility, including new-market hospitals, replacement hospitals, specialty hospitals, freestanding ambulatory care centers and numerous hospital expansions and renovations. Barker received a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Ball State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in architecture. RTKL also has named Wayne Barger, AIA, and John L. Castorina, AIA, ACHA, to senior vice president. Based in the firm’s Dallas office, Barger and Castorina are members of RTKL’s Healthcare Group. Barger received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kent State University and is a registered architect in Texas. Castorina holds a master’s of architecture, a bachelor’s of environmental design and a bachelor’s of science in building construction, all from Texas A&M University.


Jaster-Quintanilla has promoted John J. Hoenig, P.E., to associate in its Dallas office. Hoenig is responsible for structural building design, coordination for the production of contract documents, and management of a structural team. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering.


EDI Architecture Inc. announced that Darcy Garneau, AIA, will be returning as managing principal and board member.


MACTEC Engineering & Consulting has promoted Samuel M. Watson, PE, to vice president. Watson oversees operations for the firm’s Dallas, Houston and Oklahoma offices. He received his bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from Texas Tech University.


Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford announced two new associate principals to the firm’s executive management team. As associate principals, Eric Claycamp and Lynn Milstone will oversee the day-to-day activities of the firm’s higher education and science/healthcare business units.


Morris Architects elevated Doug Childers, AIA, to the position of principal. Childers directs Morris’ urban projects-specifically, mixed-use and transit-oriented development. In addition, Morris Architects promoted Todd McCurdy, ASLA to principal for the firm’s Landscape Architecture and Planning services.


Julie Hastings of Lockwood Andrews & Newman has been seleced by The Travis County Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers as the 2008 Young Engineer of the Year. Hastings currently serves as the team leader for the firm’s utility engineering and GIS group in Austin. Hastings received her bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the Tennessee Technological University and her master’s in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a registered professional engineer in the states of Texas and Tennessee.


Corgan Associates Inc. appointed four associates to its Dallas office. David Safir has been named associate of the firm. He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor’s of science in architecture. He also received a master’s of architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Joe Haver has been named associate, project architect of the firm. In his new position he will be responsible for the major aspects of construction administration, including presenting ideas to clients, organizing and directing meetings with consultants and coordinating project development from start to finish. Haver graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s of arts in art history. He also received a master’s of architecture from Texas A&M University. Lee Johnson has been named associate, technical director of the firm. In his new position he will be responsible for setting up visual effects elements, testing new software and techniques and troubleshooting rendering and animation problems. Johnson holds a bachelor’s of environmental design from Texas A&M University. He also earned a certificate of computer animation from the Art Institute of Dallas. Mark Dannehl has been named associate of the firm. His new responsibilities include project management, team development and marketing strategies for interior architecture projects. Dannehl holds a bachelor’s of interior design from the University of Oklahoma.


Duke Construction announced the appointments of new leadership in its Dallas office. Teddy Peinado was recently promoted to regional vice president of construction for Duke’s South Region. In addition, Bruce Barclay was promoted to construction operations manager in Dallas; Brian Pierce was promoted to pre-construction director in Dallas; Bret Shirley was promoted to director of design and construction in Houston; Jeff Neal was promoted to manager of Tenant Finish, Dallas; and Mark Beach named vice president of health-care construction, Dallas.


TDIndustries announced that it has promoted Jim Bivins to vice president of Information Technology. Bivins is responsible for the strategy and direction of the technology and enterprise information systems. Bivins earned his bachelor’s of science in math/computer science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The firm also announced that it has promoted Gary Barr to production manager of its Fort Worth operations. Barr is responsible for all training, safety, quality and productivity results for HVAC and plumbing.The firm also announced the appointment of Dora Ann Verde to its board of directors. Verde will serve as chairperson for TDIndustries’ audit committee. Verde holds a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from the University of Texas in San Antonio.


Edward E. Huckaby, FAIA, ACHA, ACHE, principal and senior project designer at FKP Architects, has been elevated to fellowship by the American Institute of Architects. Huckaby holds a bachelor’s of environmental design and a master’s of architecture from Texas A&M University.


Patrick Smith, RPLS, has been elected chair of the Board of Governors of the National Society of Professional Surveyors. This position includes an accompanying seat on the NSPS Board of Directors. A registered professional land surveyor, Smith is manager of Stanley Consultants Survey/Field Services Department.


Terracon Consult ants Inc.announced five of its engineers have obtained registered professional engineer designations: Prasad Rajulu, P.E.; Eeshani Sood, P.E.; John Guida, P.E.; Krishna Jonnalagadda, P.E.; and Ather Mohiuddin, P.E. In addition, Jeffrey C. Roberts, P.E., has been promoted to office manager and Alfonzo Hernandez, P.E., to manager of construction materials services and testing. Roberts is a senior principal with the firm and Hernandez is a principal in the firm.


Dee Brown Inc. has promoted Robert V. ”Rob“ Barnes, III, to president and chief operating officer. Barnes received his master’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University.
