Bulldozer

Komatsu America Corp. recently introduced the D65EX/PX/WX-15 and D85EX/PX-15 crawler dozers - mid-sized crawler dozers well suited for work in small- to mid-sized quarries, mining, construction and landfill applications. Outfitted with Komatsu's Tier II compliant SA6125E-3 engine, both of these dozers are powerful enough to handle varying conditions while lowering fuel consumption and offer faster, more agile movement thanks to a Hydrostatic Steering System (HSS).

The D65 operates with 190 hp at 1,950 rpm and ranges in operating weight from 42,540 to 45,080 lbs, depending upon the model. The D85 pushes with 240 hp at 1,900 rpm and is available in EX-15 and PX-15 models that weigh in at 61,735 and 60,740 lbs, respectively. Guardrail Systems

The Safety Boot makes it simple to create safe, dependable guardrail and stair rail systems throughout the construction process. Safety Boot temporary guardrail systems are strong, freestanding and do not require bracing. The boot is economical because it is designed for reuse.

For homebuilders, Safety Boot systems are widely used during the framing process on wall openings, stairs and balconies. These temporary rails can remain in place without moving or modifying throughout the drywall and finishing phases. In heavy commercial construction, Safety Boots' high impact polymer base can anchor directly into concrete. Contact: Barnes-Stonedale Inc., 713-973-2977, or www.safetyboot.com.

Excavator

Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corp. recently announced the Solar 75 V, an all-new, 17,643-lb small crawler excavator that offers big-machine capabilities and features. With one of the highest digging parameters in its class, the S75 V offers digging depths more than 20 ft deep and dump heights to 22 ft, 7 in.

Combined with a 1.22-cu-yd bucket, optimum engine power and hydraulics, the machine provides bucket breakout forces more than 10,800 lbs, leading to higher productivity for its size and cost. Contact: George Smith, 908-850-8710, or www.dhiac.com.

Telehandler

OmniQuip Textron has redesigned the single- and dual-fork positioning carriages for its Lull PlaceAce series telehandlers to include the OmniQuip Quick Attach System, improved operator visibility and new fork control system.

The carriages permit the operator to position the forks for different-sized materials without leaving the cab of the machine, which increases operator productivity. Twin hydraulic cylinders in the frame of the dual-fork positioning carriage move each fork to the center or outer edge of the carriage. Contact: John Giesfeldt, 920-725-4848.

Wall Saw

An addition to the Dimas line of wall saws, the new WS355 wall saw system offers a high power-to-weight ratio, remote operation and several performance-enhancing features. With components constructed of heavy-duty, yet lightweight magnesium and titanium, the WS 355 delivers one of the highest power-to-weight ratios on the market. The saw unit weighs only 64 lbs, making it easier to handle and position while the power pack provides up to 33.5 hp at the bladeshift. Contact: Jodie Klause, 800-288-5040, or www.dimas.com.

Material Handler

Caterpillar Inc. recently introduced the 325C Material Handler, designed specifically for sorting and loading scrap and demolition debris and handling bulk materials. The new C-Series material handler offers improved performance through increased horsepower and hydraulic flow, longer front linkage and a wider track gauge. A new cab and interior layout promote efficient operation. Longer service intervals and easier maintenance boost availability and lower operating costs. The new model replaces the 325B MH.
